Coach Jen Lyman
Jen Lyman is the Head Coach of the Shoreline Aquatic Club. Coaching for 20 years involving USS, high school and collegiate levels, Lyman carries a wealth of experience, knowledge and passion for the sport. In 2016, Lyman, and Associate Coach Christina Forristall started the Shoreline Aquatic Club (SLAC) to provide the opportunity to offer a higher level of competition along with a higher level of training.
Jen started her coaching career were she began competitive swimming in East Haven as Head Coach of the East Haven Big Blues (1998-2000). She also served as Head Coach of the East Haven/North Branford Co-Op boy’s high school swim team and assistant coach of the East Haven/North Branford Co-Op girl’s high school swim team (1998-2000).
Jen later moved on to Southern Connecticut State University where she wore numerous hats. For the collegiate men and women’s swim team she was one of the assistant coaches, as well as, the administrative assistant (2000-2002). She was the Age Group coach and administrative assistant for SOCO Swim Club later turned SONOCO Swim Club (2000-2002), which was located at SCSU.
Jen Lyman went on to coach 7 years at the Hopkins Mariners Swim Team (2002-2009). She was the Co-Senior Coach for the senior team and accompanied the HMST National Team. The HMST Women’s Team placed third at the 2007 Short Course Senior Championships. Margaux Farrell made history for the Hopkins Mariners Swim Team by achieving an Olympic Trial cut in the 100M Free at the 2007 Spring Nationals. Marguax Farrell went on to partipatein the 2012 London Olympics . She particpated in the 4×200 Freestyle relay and helped her team achieve a Olympic Bronze medal.
During that period Jen became involved with Daniel Hand High School girl’s swimming and diving team as the Assistant Coach (2002-2008), and later named Head Coach in 2008. She is going into her 10th season as Head Coach . Jen was an advocate and played a crucial role in starting the Daniel Hand Boys swimming and diving Team. She served as Head Coach of the Daniel Hand Boys from (2008-2013).
In 2009 Jen took an opportunity at Hamden Hall Aquatic Club to help start and coach a new program. There she was Senior Coach and Administrator (2009-2013). Over this period of time the team grew in numbers and success very quickly.
Jen took an opportunity in East Lyme CT to help revive the Nutmeg Swim Team and East Lyme Aquatic and Fitness Center (2013-2016). As Head Coach, she took Nutmeg from a team that was ranked 28th in the state to 17th ranked team out of 60. Helping grow the parent and community support, she was able to win bids to host USA meets out of the facility and off site. The team grew quickly and expanded to a satellite location in Madison, CT. In this very short amount of time, Nutmeg’s swimmers elevated as high as the Junior National level training.

- CT Open Water Championship in honor of Dave Parcells Madison Race Director (2007-Curreent)
- Co-Coordinator for CT Swimming Camps, since becoming co-coordinator in fall of 2005 there has been ten camps serving over 600 Connecticut registered swimmers.
